28.08.12: World Hepatitis Day Celebration

World Hepatitis Day was celebrated on the 28th of July at ABH. This day, which has been assigned by the World Hepatitis Alliance as a day to promote the awareness of hepatitis in all countries, and to encourage the fact that affected patients be managed and treated appropriately. The day was organized by HepSupport, a patient support group and NGO concerned about the situation of viral hepatitis in Mauritius. Most patients who have been treated so far are mainly from the private health care, including ABH. Guest speakers included Dr Vikrant Sibartie, Gastroenterologist and current President of HepSupport, Dr P Rittoo, Honorary Chairman of HepSupport, and stories from patients sharing their experience of living with hepatitis. Valerie Rawat, CEO of ABH, concluded the day by launching the new website of HepSupport.
